Begin Lesson 1

Lesson 1 — Foundations: Integrity & Observation (7 days)

Objective: Establish a daily discipline of clarity, self-honesty, and measurable reflection. This lesson forms the baseline for all future work.

Learning Outcomes

  • Create a simple daily routine that you will actually keep.
  • Document cause→effect in your choices (micro-journaling).
  • Produce two verifiable artifacts: a Personal Integrity Contract and a 7-day Observation Log.

Materials

  • Notebook or notes app (any tool you’ll use every day).
  • Timer app (for 2–10 minute blocks).
  • Optional: OpenBCI Cyton (8-ch) for 2-min baselines; not required for completion.

Daily Practice (≈15 minutes total)

  • Morning (5 min) — Alignment
    • 1 minute: breathe 4-4-6 (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 6).
    • 2 minutes: write today’s One Integrity Action (1 sentence).
    • 2 minutes: choose a Focus Word (e.g., “Clarity”, “Patience”).
  • During the Day (micro)
    • When triggered, note the chain in 1 line: Trigger → Thought → Choice → Result.
  • Evening (8–10 min) — Audit
    • Rate 1–10: Clarity, Energy, Integrity kept?
    • Write one Cause→Effect you noticed today.
    • Record one Service Act (any concrete help you gave).
Templates (copy/paste into your notes)

Integrity Contract (one paragraph):

I will tell myself the truth, especially when it is inconvenient. 
I will choose one small action daily that aligns with my stated values.
I allow data from my day (results) to correct my story about myself.

Daily Log (example):

Focus Word: Clarity
One Integrity Action: Call prospect A before 11am with transparent pricing.
Trigger→Thought→Choice→Result: Email delay → “It can wait” → Sent anyway → Felt relief; reply in 2h.
Ratings: Clarity 7/10 | Energy 6/10 | Integrity kept: Yes
Service Act: Helped a colleague rewrite their outreach email.

Micro-Exercises (3× this week)

  • Mirror Drill (Polarity) — Choose a stressful event. List both poles you could embody (e.g., impatient / patient). Pick one deliberate behavior to shift toward the constructive pole for 24h.
  • Cause & Effect Chain — For one decision today, write 5 links in the chain you can observe (cause→effect→next cause…). This trains accountability without shame.
  • Environment Tweak — Change exactly one environmental cue (e.g., water bottle on desk; phone in different room during focus block). Note the result that day.

Optional EEG Protocol (for those with OpenBCI)

  • 2 min Eyes Open baseline; 2 min Eyes Closed.
  • 2 min 4-4-6 breathing; mark timestamps.
  • Note perceived clarity before/after (1–10). No need to analyze—just save sessions.

Completion Criteria (submit or keep private)

  • 7 consecutive days of logs (morning + evening sections filled).
  • Signed Integrity Contract (dated, digital is fine).
  • One paragraph reflection: “What changed in 7 days?”

When you complete Lesson 1, you’ve fulfilled the foundation requirement for the First Degree. Keep your artifacts; they become your proof and your mirror.
